Degrees Plato independent beer pub in Oakland’s Laurel District.

This “third space” community gathering place is focused on offering the neighborhood an inviting atmosphere that brings the people together over high-quality, specialty brewer-focused craft beer and a casual dining experience highlighting the fresh ingredients of Oaxaca Mexico. Pick up a bottle to go or sit and have a beer and a bite.

Husband-and-wife team Rich Allen and Mercedes Sperling, along with their son, Thorian, live just blocks away in the neighborhood. Rich and Mercedes envision Degrees Plato as a safe and inviting space for families to sit and enjoy a meal and a beer.

Rich and Mercedes fell in love with the Laurel and feel fortunate for their great neighbors and a supportive community. As members of the Laurel’s community fabric, they see Degrees Plato as a positive addition to a walkable, bikeable, and increasingly vibrant neighborhood.
